Frequently Asked Questions
What people would ask, if people were asking questions
Q. I have a "Free" account. What else is there?
A. Right now, free is it! Down the road there may be different levels, but for now free is free. Having this restriction allows me to keep an eye on performance while a user base grows. See the next FAQ.
Q. If hit my plan quota. What can I do?
A. See question 1. If you need a bump, send an email to support@rubychip.com requesting less restrictions and there is about a 99% chance you'll get it.
Q. I don't think my league scores are being calculated properly. What is wrong?
A. Events are not included in the league points unless they are "Closed" AND have been "Ranked". Do the math and if you still have a problem, please open a ticket.
Q. I want to use a scoring structure where players get a percentage of a number that is determined by the number of players participating in an event.
A. The plan is to have different scoring structures to choose from... sometime... soon. For now there is only one scoring structure. Updated 12/7/06 - There are now 2 scoring structures to choose from!
Q. There are things I would like that RubyChip doesn't do. Can you get these in?
A. You can email support@rubychip.com with an enhancement request. Who knows, if its a good idea I might toil all night to get it in. Maybe not.
Q. How are enhancement requests prioritized?
A. Please keep in mind that as I weigh the value of features there are lots of things to consider including amount of time to implement, the number of users that might benefit from the feature, and the desire to keep the app simple and easy to use (which is difficult as complexity and features increase). Enhancements that are more critical, are beneficial to many users, or are easy to implement will be ahead of others.
Q. I deleted something I kinda need back. Can you get it?
A. Maybe, what is "deleted" really anyways? Email support@rubychip.com and request help, but no promises are made.
Q. How do players view the league or event information?
A. There are 2 ways that your players can view the league and event information.
1. Access only to players via notification e-mail
Players can access league and event information once sent a "notification" e-mail. The notification e-mail contains a link that allows the player to view league and event information, as well as respond "In" or "Out" in events and to post comments (players have access to all events they are in). To send notifications, go to an event and select "Event Players". From here you may select players you wish to notify and click "With Selected: Send Notification" Go!!
2. Public league access (for leagues and league events only, not single events).
If you wish to make league information and statistics available to anyone without the email notification, go to the league and to the "League Information" tab. Click "Edit" and make the league "Public". Once a league is flagged as public you are provided a url/link that you can post anywhere you want (i.e. on your website or forums) or email around to whoever you wish. Since this is just a public access point, visitors cannot respond in/out to events or leave comments (to do this, they must receive a notification e-mail described above).
You can send notifications e-mails AND make the league public as well.
